Location of Our Deep Water Site
Nowhere else on earth has the meeting of
the land and the sea created the magnificent beauty of Canada's Pacific Coast.
Our deep water site is nestled in this amazing natural environment on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
The
shellfish farm is located
in Barkley Sound in Area 23-6. Barkley
Sound lies south of Ucluelet and north of Bamfield covering an area of
approximately 800 square kilometres that includes hundreds of islands,
none of which is larger than 2 kilometres across.
Barkley
Sound and the Broken Group Islands comprise one of the three main recreational
components in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The spectacular Pacific Rim National Park
is the only national
park on Vancouver Island, providing protection for substantial rain forests and
an incredible marine environment on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This area of Canada
is famous for salmon and halibut fishing, ocean kayaking in the
Broken Group and hiking on the West Coast Trail.

The scenery is spectacular and
the wildlife awesome. Killer whales and grey whales migrate through this
region.

Barkley
Sound is endowed with one of the highest concentrations of bald eagles in North
America.

The
site encompasses 10.1 hectares of deep water lease and is only accessible by boat.

All these aspects make this area ideal for
growing shellfish and produces a product which mirrors this natural marine
environment.
